Product Description
As Microsoft’s bestselling database manager, SQL Server is highly flexible and customizable, and has excellent support—the 2008 version offers several significant new capabilities. This book offers accurate and expert coverage on the updates to SQL Server 2008 such as its enhanced security; the ability to encrypt an entire database, data files, and log files without the need for application changes; a scalable infrastructure that can manage reports and analysis of any size and complexity; and its extensive performance data collection.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Excellent book for everyone in the office   October 20, 2009

I rarely write reviews, but I was shocked to see no one had reviewed this book yet. I have been working with SQL Server for a long time, so I am pretty critical of reference manuals overall. This book, however, does not disappoint. There is information in here that everyone in the office can use - from the standard 3 or 4 pages explaining normal form, to the chapter on using spatial data in 2008 (very cool). It's a really good and thorough reference, and these guys do a good job of giving you the information you need to make intelligent decisions. I have a couple of other books written by Michael Lee, and I really like his style. Lots of good information that's an easy read - the kind you have to write your name on the inside cover to make sure you get it back after you lend it out and it makes it's way around the office.
